New Program Records
Leticia Detrow, Varsity Girls Cross Country
Fastest 5K Time
Leticia Detrow continues to rewrite the record book this season. She opened the season at the Brunswick Zumbach Invitational on September 6, 205, lowering her previous record of 20:47.5 (set in 2024) to 20:23.3, and placing first in the small schools division and seventh overall out of 103 runners. She went on to top her own record at the Rockbridge Invitational on September 11, cutting eight seconds off her time to finish in 20:15.0. Later in the season, she set another record of 19:28.24 in the 5K at the MSD Invitational on Homecoming Day, September 27, 2025.
Most recently, Leticia achieved a new program record of 19:13 in historic fashion at the Maryland State Private Schools Championships on November 6, 2025, at Bittersweet Field, winning the state championship title in the 1A division. Leticia is the first MSD athlete to win a cross country state title.
Josiah Lockhart, Varsity Boys Cross Country
Fastest 5K Time
Josiah Lockhart set a new program record in the 5K, clocking a time of 16:45.6 at the Arrows Invitational on November 11, 2025, lowering his own mark by 40.4 seconds.
Earlier this season, he broke a long-standing program record by edging past the previous record of 17:26.4, set by Toby Daniels ('89) in 1988, with a time of 17:26.0 at the Rockbridge Invitational on September 11, 2025.
Maliyah Coleman, Varsity Girls Volleyball
Most Kills in a Five-Set Match
In the season opener on August 25, 2025, against Heritage Academy, Maliyah Coleman recorded 38 kills, setting a new program record for the most kills in a five-set match.
The overall single-match record belonged to Tessa Lewis ('15), who recorded 36 kills in a four-set match in 2013.

Most Kills in a Four-Set Match
Maliyah Coleman set a new program record for the most kills in a four-set match, recording 38 kills on October 16, 2025, in the MIAC semifinal against Rockbridge Academy on home court.
Her performance surpassed the previous four-set record of 36 kills, set by Tessa Lewis ('15) in 2013.
Emma Le, Varsity Girls Volleyball
Most Assists in a Single Set
In the season opener on August 25, 2025, against Heritage Academy, Emma Le also tallied 18 assists in a single set, establishing a new program record.
The single set record of 16 assists was shared by Krystle Berrigan ('04) in 2002 and Laura Lohmeyer ('02) in 2001.

Most Assists in a Five-Set Match
Also in the season opener against Heritage Academy on August 25, 2025, Emma Le recorded 61 assists, setting a new single-match program record for the most assists in a five-set match.
The five-set mark of 41 assists, set by Krystle Berrigan ('04) in 2003, stood for more than two decades before Emma extended the record by 20.

Most Assists in a Season
Emma Le set a new single-season record with 879 assists during the 2025 season, surpassing the previous mark of 774 set by Krystle Berrigan ('04) in 2003. With this milestone, Emma now holds the program records for most assists in a single set (18), most assists in a five-set match (61), and most assists in a single season (879).

Mark Gwynn III, Varsity 8-Man Football
1,000 Rushing Yards
Senior Mark Gwynn III reached 1,000 rushing yards during the 2025 season. On October 25, during a non-conference game at Quantico High School, Mark rushed for 128 yards to achieve this milestone. He is now the fourth athlete in MSD's 8-Man Football program history to record 1,000 yards in a single season. Across ten games this year, Mark has averaged 101.6 yards per game, with 10.8 yards per carry and 13 rushing touchdowns. His longest run of the season was 75 yards, and he has surpassed the 100-yard mark in five games.
Maliyah Coleman, Varsity Girls Volleyball
1,000 Career Kills
Sophomore Maliyah Coleman reached 1,000 career kills on October 16 during the MIAC semifinal match against Rockbridge Academy in the Benson Gym. Maliyah joined the varsity roster as an eighth-grader, opening her high school career with 203 kills. As a freshman, she added 341, and this season, she has powered through with another 456 to surpass the 1,000 mark. She now ranks among the program's all-time leaders, becoming just the eighth player in girls' volleyball program history to achieve this milestone. Maliyah closed her sophomore season with 534 kills, averaging 5.4 kills per set.
