Coach Hiring Information

 

Applicants must possess competent knowledge of Special Olympics sports. This role serves as the primary liaison between MSD Athletics and Special Olympics Maryland (SOMD), supporting individual and team sports at the Frederick Campus. The liaison will act as the main point of contact between MSD and SOMD, sharing updates and deadlines with athletes, parents, coaches, and volunteers. The liaison is responsible for ensuring that all coaching practices align with Special Olympics guidelines and standards, recruiting athletes, and maintaining regular communications with their families. This role also involves collecting the necessary paperwork for athlete registration and participation, and working closely with the Athletic Director to facilitate activities. The liaison will build positive relationships with athletes, families, and community partners. Additional responsibilities include attending Special Olympics meetings as requested and assuming other duties as designated by the Athletic Director.

 

Essential duties also include modeling appropriate behavior and following established protocols for injuries. This position reports to the Athletic Director. Applicants must possess competent knowledge of Special Olympics sports. Preference will be given to applicants with teaching/coaching experience. Strong organizational skills and excellent communication skills. Proficiency in American Sign Language is required. Flexibility to work weekends is expected.
