Awards and Accolades
MSD Athletics celebrates the achievements of our high school student-athletes, coaches, and teams throughout the year. From monthly recognitions to seasonal and national honors, these awards highlight more than athletic performance alone; they also reflect the preparation, leadership, and sportsmanship that define what it means to be an Oriole.

Athletes of the Month
Each month, the Athletics Department recognizes one student-athlete from every high school team in season, including Special Olympics and powerlifting. Selections are recommended by the coaching staff, based on the following criteria:
> Commitment: Shows consistent dedication to training, preparation, and team responsibilities.
> Character: Represents MSD with respect, integrity, and pride both on and off the field.
> Performance: Demonstrates effort, improvement, and skill in practices and competitions during the month.
> Team Contribution: Positively influences the team through leadership, reliability, and support for others.
Tournament Highlights
MSD Athletics competes in local, conference, and national deaf tournaments during the year. This section records team championships, notable finishes, and individual honors such as All-Tournament selections and MVP awards.
School Records and Milestones
MSD Athletics celebrates record-breaking performances and career milestones. Whether it's a new program record or a historic team achievement, these moments capture the growth and success of our student-athletes.
Seasonal Team Awards
At the end of each season, MSD Athletics recognizes teams and individuals for their contributions. Selected by the coaching staff, these team awards honor dedication, improvement, talent, and other qualities demonstrated during the season.
Conference, Local, and National Honors
In addition to recognitions within MSD, our student-athletes are often honored at the conference, local, and national levels. These awards celebrate the achievements of our Orioles beyond our campus and within the broader athletic community, including conference awards for league play, local honors from area organizations and media outlets, as well as recognitions from the National Deaf Interscholastic Athletic Association and USA Deaf Track and Field, including All-American selections and other national-level achievements.
